During 2006 I studied for a PGCE in Plymouth. As part of that course of study I undertook an independent study module which stemmed from the work I did researching curricula in my subject area of photography. I was surprised to find that students considered photographic theory an unnecessary chore. I found students were mostly unwilling to relate the critical and contextual studies to their own practice. Here is the essay from that independent study. I continue to use the methods described in my practice.
